So I watched the Da Vinci Code last night with Dy and Tby. One word - boring. I had bought the book in India for a cool 60 rupees but never got round to finishing it. It was waaaaaay too yawn-inducing. I don’t really fancy detailed plots. I like engaging thrillers by John Grisham and Steve Martini but Dan Brown’s stuff is too much for me. The movie was just blah. Especially the beginning - could it be any more long winded? It didn’t help that there was no eye-candy whatsoever. The only thing cool about the movie was that every now and then, Dy, Tby and I would look at each other and say hey, we’ve been there!
Well anyway, I wanted to watch it for the sake of watching it and now I have. So now let’s get on with our lives. It seems to have generated a lot of interest. From campus crusaders claiming that the book is utter fiction and sects such as the Opus Dei coming under fire. I watched the BBC Hardtalk episode on the Opus Dei President in London and it was quite laughable (think Shane’s jab at Aras’ yoga).
Oh well, I tried out the food at Secret Recipe and for the first time, I saw a restaurant that charged for water. Bleargh. Anyway, the sales are starting soon and I’m looking forward to watching X-men next week. YET another movie I’m watching for the sake of watching. What happened to all the lame funny movies and romantic comedies that I love to watch? I hate overrated blockbusters and lame animated movies that seem to be the theme lately. Bah humbug.
So it was back to school today. Yes, I believe it is rather shity that I had less than 2 weeks of holidays. I vaguely remember lots of shopping, drinking and cursing (two shity weeks of asian market crashes). I don’t think I’ve relaxed much at all. Sigh….
Anyway, I’m glad I came onto this course. My classmates seem to be a really diverse bunch, in terms of experience, background and age. At twenty-one, I’ve the dubious honor of being the youngest. I know it’s a bit embarrassing but today when there was a bus tour of the campus and heritage centre, I got shot down for never going to those sites in all my undergraduate days. Ks, Hp and I have always told ourselves that we would one day go to the heritage centre at least, but that one day never quite came. Well, at least, now I’ve done it!
I don’t think I’ll be updating in the next few days. I’ll be off to PulauUbin for OutwardBoundCamp. It’s been quite a while since I’ve been for OBS - I think not since my junior college days. I know some of you will be shocked
but I was actually in ODAC (outdoor adventure club) in JC. That was before I realised I have no stamina whatsover and cannot possibly endure mountain climbing and other gruelling stamina needed tasks. I mean I think I’m pretty sporty and can do a lot of sports except for those that need me to endure for a prolonged period of time - like marathons (I can’t even do 2.4km), mountain climbing (I can do rock climbing - does that count?), long distance swimming (I like swimming for leisure though) or any long distance shit. CRAP.
OK anyway I realised I sucked at gruelling shit and that’s all that the ODAC people did so I quit and joined Debating society. Glad I made that choice - was more of my kind of thing. So I’m going into the camp with an open mind. It’s been a long time but I hope my body can take it. I’m soooo not an outdoorsy person now. Camping with bugs? Ugggh~!
Fuck man. MY zits are just not disappearing. I don’t know why. And it’s been sooo long! Any cures to recommend, anyone?
Yeap yeap yeap. I guess I got up on the right side of bed today after all. (Technically it isn’t possible to get up on the wrong side cos my bed is up against the wall but yeah, it’s just a phrase.)
Last night was good. I had a good night out with Bab and the friends she had brought along. Amazing how sometimes you can just click so well with strangers. As usual, went to our fav. place at Boat Quay (Bab knows the guy there so she gets by). I needed the night out badly after all the frustration pented up in me for the past few days. I know it isn’t good to let alcohol get the better of you (especially to avoid the beer belly) so I’m going to try and contain the outings from now on. And I keep procrastinating to go to the Amore fitness thing. I have to validate my package soon and start burning all these flab.
My zits are slowly clearing up so I hope they’ll be gone by the end of this week. What a bother.
The only bummer was that Arsenal LOST to Barcelona. To be fair, they weren’t really on the same level cos Arsenal was clearly undermanned but yeah, we lost. As usual, I was hooked up onto low quality free streaming video on the internet because I’m too cheapskate to go for the pay-for-view. I think I’m resigned to my fate of watching low quality world cup matches too cos my dad is not budging on letting me take up the pay-per-view package. As it is I was suffering from a hangover so I just slept off after some time. And boy did they keep it late. Bloody hell.
Anyway, on to the better stuff. I met dearie Aisha today!!!! And we forgot to take pics. Stupid la, esp. when I had painstakingly managed to squeeze my digicam into my minute bag. Damn damn damn. We watched MI3. It was good. Tom cruise, as usual, was swoon-worthy. I can’t wait to see u again babe, loads more to catch up on.
When I returned, I had a pleasant surprise. I’d made good gains on WS. Yippee, I think I finally figured out the stocks to buy and the strategy to use - anti-greed! lol. A pity it’s just a game la. Stupid.
Anyway, I hope my good days continue.
[Update] This pic totally cracked me up. I was searching for "Tom Cruise" and I got this pic:

My mom found about the shity parking ticket today. All she said was -
penny wise and pound foolish
I hate it when my parents do this. They just throw some smartass proverb at you and it stings harder than a slap on the face. My dad’s favourite is "you can only bring the horse up to the water, after that if it wants to drink, it’s up to it". I hate all these damn proverbs. Who in the world came up with them!
I am also losing money like hell in WS. Fish Fish Fish. I was totally raking in the profits in the morning but due to my utter greed, I slumped again. Thankfully it’s all virtual. Still…..Arrrgh.
Tomorrow better be a better day. These days are really frustrating.
My seven deadly sins in order:

Greed

Gluttony

Envy

Lust

Anger

Pride

Sloth
I personally like Mahatma Gandhi’s list of deadly sins:
Aras What’s-his-last-name won survivor! Aras rules, you drool.
He kind of looked a little pudgy and un-sexy without the beard in the renunion show but whatever, he won!!! Danielle was a loser right from the start, no question about it. I’m only happy she took Aras instead of Terry.
Self-confessed reality tv and survivor junkie I am. Adorer of Aras definitely!!!!
Looking forward to Cook Islands!
Had a good time meeting up with Sam and Jamie last night. Loads of catching up! Girls, will send u the pics soon. They’re already up on my Flickr, private photos open only to friends and family. In the meantime we’re looking out for the following very interesting characters in the class of ‘96:
- The liquid paper/glue sniffer
- The happening club-going guy
- The ballerina
- The jail/boys’ home guy
- The ‘unreachable’ asst. head prefect
- The cheat/dumper
- The snitch/teacher’s pet
- The vainpot nose-picker
- The golfer
- The buaya/jock
Hmmm, very interesting people indeed! Watching out for these people for a gathering (to laugh our lungs out). Until then, yes, we have to watch the darn movie before your bedtime Sam.
